The KVNM Forum Committee is looking for you
The Koninklijke Vereniging voor Nederlandse Muziekgeschiedenis (KVNM) is seeking new members for its Forum Committee. The committee organises around two events per year that put music and music history centre stage. Following role changes within the KVNM, two seats have become available. We’re looking for people with a background or interest in musicology or performance who enjoy organising events together.
About the KVNM
The KVNM is the national professional association for musicologists. Founded in Amsterdam in 1868, it is the oldest musicological society in the world. In 2018 it celebrated its 150th anniversary.
About the Forum Committee
The Forum Committee organises member meetings, study days and conferences for the KVNM, such as the Artistic Research Symposium and the autumn meeting on the theme Music, Migration and War. The committee currently consists of Mimi Mitchell (musicologist, musician, Master’s coordinator and lecturer at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam) and Sonja Hamhuis (musicologist, research advisor with the Dutch national government).
You are…
- broadly interested in music (studies) and musical practice;
- engaged, communicative and happy to take initiative;
- available for a term of at least one year.
We ask…
That you will help shape the committee’s programme and contribute to the organisation of its activities.
We offer…
- participation in events where the study of music takes centre stage, alongside specialists from the field;
- experience in organising events for a broad audience, including KVNM members, students and other interested parties;
- opportunities to expand your network of Dutch musicologists, musicians and other professionals.
How to apply
Would you like to join the Forum Committee? Or do you have any questions? Please contact Mimi Mitchell. Applications are open until 15 December. Please include a short statement of motivation and, if you wish, your CV.
